Intensive & Progressive Care

When a life-threatening injury or illness occurs, you need close, constant attention from a team of specially trained healthcare professionals who have access to the very best medical technology.

If you or someone you love needs critical care, know that a state-of-the-art intensive care unit (ICU) is available right here at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. Our ICU team consists of hospitalists, critical care physicians (through the use of eICU technology), specially trained nurses, and other specialists. All are uniquely trained in all aspects of critical care.

Intensive, round-the-clock monitoring and care

Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center’s highly trained critical care doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals provide 24-hour monitoring and acute care for critically ill patients in our Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Our staff and certified specialists use computerized and centralized cardiac monitoring equipment to closely watch patients in our 12-bed unit for trending, arrhythmia detection, and pressure monitoring.

Progressive care is for patients who are able to leave the ICU (intensive care unit), but who still require significant care and monitoring. Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center’s multidisciplinary team of specialized doctors, ICU-qualified nurses, and other specialized healthcare professionals provides 24-hour care and monitoring for patients with acute or chronic illness. Our progressive care team is committed to providing high-quality care to our patients, and we are committed to keeping family members well informed.

Electronic Intensive Care Unit (eICU)

The Intensive Care Unit at Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center is equipped with eICU technology. This technology allows critical care doctors, called intensivists, to video chat with patients, family, nurses, and fellow doctors, giving them access to assist in the care of critically ill patients.

This increased access to critical care doctors adds another layer of safety and expertise, increasing the level of care received in the Intensive Care Unit and allowing the Hospitalist to admit and safely treat the sickest of patients, right in our community.

Patients have access to specialists in a full range of disciplines who are available to provide expert care at a moment’s notice. Our ICU team utilizes advanced equipment and technology to provide safe, high-quality care.

We understand that having a family member or loved one in the ICU can be difficult, so our critical care team members are dedicated to keeping you well informed and answering your questions.
